Pet day review

On the 21st of October 2016 Awahono School we had Pet Day.  In Room 5 we had to write a review about Pet Day. Here is my review.
Pet Day Review
Today I’m going to talk to you about Awahono Schools Pet Day on Friday the 21st   of October 2016. Pet day is a day when everybody brings a Pet to school. At Pet Day we have a lot of things to do like Pet parade, judging and the work shops.
The first thing that I’m going to talk to you about is the Pet parade. The Pet parade is held on the school court in the middle of the whole school.  All of the children walk their pets or carry them around the court once. I think that the pet parade is a really good idea because then everyone got a chance to see all of the pets.
The second thing that I’m going to tell you about is the animals. At Pet Day most of the children bring an animal. There were many different kinds of pets at Pet Day like dogs, cats, chickens, birds and lots of other animals. I think that all of the animals behaved well and didn’t try to run away except for my chicken.

The last thing that I’m going to talk to you about is the workshops.  There were a lot of different kinds of work shops like arts and crafts, outdoor activities and a few other ones. In the arts and crafts work shop they did origami. They made little cats, dogs and a few cows. I think that the workshops were really fun and most of them were really creative workshops.
Overall, I think that Awahono School Pet Day was a really fun day because none of the pets tried to run away because the people would have tied them up or held them.

Life Cycle of a Frog

Last term, one of the children in Room 5 brought in some tadpoles. We had to write a factual explanation about the tadpoles . It includes three stages in their lives. Here is my piece of writing.

Life Cycle of a Frog

Today I’m going to talk to you about a frog’s life cycle. A frog is a small amphibian that spends half of its life underwater and half of land. Here are the three main paragraphs that I’m going to talk to you about: eggs, tadpoles and a frog.

Eggs are the first stage in a frog’s life. The eggs look like a little black dot with jelly around it.  The frog egg get laid in a group with lots of other eggs. There are sometimes more than 700 eggs in one group of eggs.

Now I’m going to talk to you about the second stage before the tadpole becomes a frog.  A tadpole looks like a head with a little tail and eyes.  In about 6-7 days the egg becomes a tadpole. The tadpole grows its front legs first, then they grow their hind legs. After the tadpole has its legs it spends a little bit of time out of water.

The third stage after the tadpole has spent a few weeks under the water it becomes a frog.  The frog eats many different things when it’s an adult, for example blood worms, ants, fruit flies and small crickets. Finally when the frog has fully adapted into a grown up frog, he spends a lot more time out of the water.

My opinion in a frog’s life they always have three different stages eggs, tadpole and a becoming a frog.

Cricket

The other day in Room 5 Paddy, a cricket teacher, came and taught us some cricket skills. I think that something that helped me hit the ball was the cones that Paddy put the balls on. We had to make a slideshow of some of the pictures that Jo one of our teachers took. Here's my one.

Dr Dischord

In Room 5 our teacher Mrs Idle has been reading us a book called The Phantom Tollbooth. The other day we had to start to write a description about Dr Dischord. Here is my favourite sentence from my description. This sentence was the first sentence that I wrote in my description.

One day Dr Dischord was sitting in his little wagon making medicines, and suddenly he heard a knock at the door.
